| The Gambardella Cup was played in Portugal again this year. Staying at the Hotel Vila Gale Ampalius.
The UK team continued its winning run against the Italians in the 2004 . A spectacular 5 to 1 UK lead after the first day, was too much for the Italians to overcome, despite their second day 3.5 to 2.5 comeback and 7 to 5 win on the last day, the overall score was Italy 11 - UK 13. UK captain, James Drummond, receiving the cup for only the second time from Raf Gambardella, the captain of the Italian team, three time winners.
